An XM demo account gives you virtual funds to trade with — no real money at risk, no deposit required. You get access to the same instruments, charts, and execution as a live account. It is the safest way to learn forex and CFD trading before committing real capital.

Demo vs Live Account — Key Differences
| Demo Account | Live Account | |
|---|---|---|
| Funds | Virtual (not real) | Real money |
| Profits/losses | Simulated only | Real |
| Spreads & execution | Closely mimics live conditions* | Real market execution |
| Emotions | No emotional pressure | Real emotions, risk of poor decisions |
| Slippage | Usually none | Real slippage possible, especially in fast markets |
| Bonuses | Not applicable | $30 no-deposit bonus available |
| Deposit required? | No | From $5 |
*Demo accounts replicate live pricing closely but may differ slightly in execution speed and fill quality during high-volatility events.
When Are You Ready to Go Live?
A demo account is a great starting point but it has limits — the absence of real financial risk changes behaviour. You may be ready for a live account when:
- You have traded profitably on demo for at least 1–3 months consistently
- You understand position sizing, stop-losses, and risk-reward ratios
- You can explain your trading strategy and why each trade makes sense
- You are comfortable with the MetaTrader interface and order types
When you are ready, consider starting with a small live deposit of $5–$50 on a Micro account rather than jumping straight to large positions. You can also claim the $30 no-deposit bonus to trade real markets before making any deposit.
